(3,416 posts)...I have sympathy for the kids burned alive in these war machines. They are mostly conscripts who have been lied to. If they quit the fight, they will be shot by their own terrified captains.
Delighted that their mission can't move forward, but compassionate for their families who have lost their sons.
In 1903, my grandparents fled Russia to escape the Czar's conscription. Peasant farmers in the region have been the victims of oppression for centuries.
Unless someone takes out Putin, these kids will be sacrificed for the psychopath's delusions of world domination.

(5,969 posts)but considering all the war crimes, executions, bombing and rapes of civilians, my sympathy for them is very low. They may not be there voluntarily but how they act is still up to them.

(5,698 posts)I view them all the same way I view German and Japanese soldiers in WW2. Conscripted, maybe. . .but as soon as barbarity started, they all were guilty and they all deserve what ever hell or death they received.
My wife's great-grandmother was gang raped by Japanese soldier in the weeks leading into the Rape of Nanking. No sympathy for war criminals.
