Congressman wants to REVOKE no-fly zone over Disney

This is LUNACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That no fly zone is there to protect the huge crowds of people from unspeakable acts, NOT because it makes Disney money!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.wdwinfo.com/news-stories/whats-up-with-the-no-fly-zones-above-disney-theme-parks/

The recent bill passed in Florida to dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District has apparently prompted Texas Congressman Troy Nehls to question the existence of the no-fly zone above the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

In a letter Nehls sent to the Department of Transportation, he pointed out that other theme park competitors in the area(s) including Universal do not have no-fly zones set up and expressed his desire to have the measure reconsidered. When it was originally set up, the no-fly zone was supposed to be temporary but was later made permanent.

In his letter, he goes on to say, “…measures designed for protecting our national security and public safety must not be co-opted by companies looking to gain.”

The no-fly zone states aircraft can be no closer than an altitude of 3,000 feet and a three-mile radius from the center of Magic Kingdom.

Congress set up the no-fly zone back in 2003 in response to the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001 and it is unclear why it’s suddenly coming into question at this point.

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! Unclear????

Disney was mean to Ron DeSantis, who wants to be on the GOP ticket for 2024. So he's going nuclear on Disney to send a message to anyone who disrespects the MAGA cult and also make him look good to Fox News viewers. That's it.

Unclear? That's a good one!

9. They complain about "First Amendment" and "Free Speech", then they do this...

When right wingers complain about "freedom of speech", they are usually (almost Always) talking about private citizens using their own free speech or power as consumers; or a private company enforcing their own rules based on the actions and words of some vile right winger. They cry "censorship" and free speech. Censorship during the heyday of Radio and Broadcast Television was REAL and was instigated against leftists, people of color, and others by the corporations at the behest of government. Nowadays it is just consequences from a pretty wide open media structure, with little to no government interference. That is what right wingers cry about.

Then they go and show what phonies and hypocrites they are. A company, using its free speech, which Right Wingers again, affirmed in Citizens United, goes against a stupid right wing policy and now all the right wingers want to bring about the power of government to punish this company for that speech. LITERALLY the First Amendment, extended to the States in the 14th Amendment. Government shall make no law abridging the Free Speech... and right to address grievances. DeSantis gets the State Legislature to overturn an aggreement with Disney based on his being pissed off about a political stance. Now they want to rescind another policy they enacted to punish Disney for speaking out?

This is not the NCAA pulling out of Georgia for their voting laws or the NBA pulling out of Arizona for SB1070. Those, again, were private companies using their voices. This is GOVERNMENT using its power to silence a critical voice.

10. Here's a brief reason why:

Yes, both of the United States Disney parks are protected by no-fly zones—Florida’s Walt Disney World and California’s Disneyland. They were included in a massive air-safety-focused act of Congress, Operation Liberty Shield, enacted in 2003. But Disney World actually already had some degree of protection from too-close airplanes; they didn’t want low-flying aircraft scaring Animal Kingdom’s fauna. And while Disney parks were seeking the safety provided by a no-fly zone—they’re some of the country’s most major, and culturally significant, tourist destinations, after all—Disney also had a more self-serving reason. Throughout the 1980s and ’90s, Disney was plagued by aerial advertisements, including religious and political messages and ads for competitors like SeaWorld, flying over their parks. They saw the no-fly zone as a perfect way to keep them away.

11. GOP lawmakers are now attacking Disney at the federal level

DeathSantis is having his allies in Congress attack Disney

Republicans aren’t done targeting Disney in their political, disinformation-riddled war on free enterprise.

Late last week, several House Republicans introduced a bill that would rescind special no-fly zones federally authorized above two Disney properties: Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

It’s the latest example of the GOP, which is known for favoring corporate interests, seemingly targeting a corporation because of its political independence. Disney, of course, has been under attack by conservatives — especially Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — ever since company leadership spoke out against bigoted legislation, signed by DeSantis, that restricts in-school discussions about LGBTQ people.

I am pissed that it is my congresscritter who filed this bill
Rep. Troy Nehls, a Texas Republican, first introduced the Airlines Independent of Restrictions Act targeting Disney’s “no-fly zones” last June. He reintroduced it Friday, with co-sponsors including right-wing extremists Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Lauren Boebert of Colorado.

“Theme parks like Disney should not receive special treatment just because they are well-connected,” Nehls said in a news release upon the bill’s reintroduction. “Our national security should not be compromised to fit the needs of one corporation.”

Nehls is a low life scum bucket
