Alabama fugitive Casey White and corrections officer Vicky White are in custody, and she is hospitalized after shooting herself, authorities said late Monday afternoon.

The pair were taken into custody after a chase in Evansville, Indiana, and their vehicle crashed, officials said.

The US Marshals told CNN that Vicky White’s injury was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A tip from the public led to the capture and arrest, he said. The tip came Sunday night, Singleton said.

The pair was located at a hotel and then a vehicle pursuit ensued, he said.

Investigators were notified on Sunday night that a 2006 Ford F-150 had been discovered at a car wash in Evansville, about 175 miles north of Williamson County, Tennessee, where the 2007 Ford Edge the pair had been traveling in was found abandoned.

The owner provided the images from a security camera, the US Marshals service said in a release.

That statement doesn't make any sense. I assume they meant that someone at the car wash recognized White and called it in?

Anyway, hopefully Vicky pulls through so she can spend many many years rotting in prison.

oh and I hate to offer this kind of advice, but if you are on the run form the law trying to dodge all the cameras and other people out there... DON'T GO TO THE CAR WASH!!!!!!!!!! Are you KIDDING ME???????????? All that planning, getting the money together and the cars and executing the escape, and you waltz into a FREAKING CAR WASH??????????? Just put up with the dirt!!!!!!!! Sheriff Dave Wedding of Vanderburgh County Indiana confirmed Vicky White’s injuries were self-inflicted when she shot herself at some point during or at the end of the pursuit. Police said Vicky White was seriously injured.

Later, when speaking to NewsNation, Wedding said Vicky White was in “grave condition” and that he could not comment on if she would survive her injury. Not long after, shortly after 7 p.m., Vicky White died at Deaconess Hospital, according to the Vanderburgh County coroner.

She had money, a home and a steady job and was eligible to retire but she goes out like this. How sad.

it seems Ms. White suffered from mental health issues and was manipulated by a criminal......it is too bad she didn't try to get help

A psychologist friend made that comment to me once, when I said the same thing.

Why didn't they get help?

She said most emotionally or mentally ill people don't recognize they need help with a troubling situation.

Maybe she was in over her head, if or when she did realize it.
