Dr. George Tiller was a caring doctor in Wichita who had followed in his father's footsteps and provided health care to women, including abortions. On May 31, 2009, anti-abortion zealot Scott Roeder shot and killed Dr. Tiller at his church. Roeder knew Dr. Tiller often wore a bulletproof vest, so he shot him in the head.

Dr. George R. Tiller had many critics, but arguably the one with the highest profile was Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News Channel host. Mr. O’Reilly, a vocal opponent of abortion, often called him “Tiller the baby killer” for performing late-term abortions and said repeatedly that he had “blood on his hands.”

Mr. O’Reilly responded to the critics on his program on Monday night, saying that “clear-thinking Americans should condemn” the killing. He defended his remarks about Dr. Tiller, declaring that “every single thing we said about Tiller was true, and my analysis was based on those facts.”

Within nine hours of Dr. Tiller’s death, Salon magazine had catalogued references to him on 29 episodes of “The O’Reilly Factor” from 2005 to 2009. In one, Mr. O’Reilly talks about him and the lawmakers who supported his “business of destruction,” saying, “I wouldn’t want to be these people if there is a Judgment Day.”

Bloggers quickly found new examples of Mr. O’Reilly’s condemnation of Dr. Tiller. A commenter on Daily Kos noted that Mr. O’Reilly once sent a producer to ambush the doctor at his home in Kansas. After the producer told him that some people called him a “baby killer,” the doctor tried to leave his house and called 911. The camera crew ended the confrontation.

I have a friend who was OH's Sec. of State and now on the OH Supreme Court and in 2008 night after night Sean Hannity

15. A story about Dr. Tiller...

Mark and Jean were a DEVOUT Christian young couple eager to start their family.
They did not believe in contraception, much less abortion.

To their extreme joy, Jean became pregnant. Unfortunately, toward the end of the second trimester, the fetus died.
Jean's body could not expel the fetus and it began calcifying inside her.
The doctors all agreed that the deceased, calcifying fetus needed to be surgically removed ASAP if Mark and Jean ever wanted to have a family.

Mark and Jean went from doctor to doctor and hospital to hospital, and NO ONE would perform the necessary surgery. No one.

Finally, Mark and Jean went to Dr. Tiller's clinic and had the procedure done, which probably saved her life and allowed her to have future children.

Obviously, this very private time was not something Mark and Jean would talk about, only to say that they know that Angels exist, because of Dr. Tiller.

Stories like this were the rule and not the exception with Dr. Tiller and his staff.
Dr. Tiller was one of the only doctors in the entire United States that would perform late term abortions.
Patient after patient all commented how Dr. Tiller and his staff made one of the worst moments in their lives a bit more bearable because of his compassion and care.
