KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) A Taliban official says a bombing at a mosque and religious school in northern Afghanistan on Friday killed at least 33 people, including students of a religious school.
Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted news of the devastating bombing in the town of Imam Saheb, in Kunduz Province, saying it also wounded another 43 people, many of them students.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Afghanistans Islamic State affiliate on Thursday claimed a series of earlier bombings, the worst of which was an attack on a Shiite mosque in northern Mazar-e-Sharif that killed at least 10 of Afghanistans minority Shiite Muslim worshippers and wounded scores more.
The deadliest of the three bombings on Thursday exploded inside a Shite mosque in northern Mazar-e-Sharif. Hospital officials say at least 12 people were killed and as many as 40 were hurt.

When Lisa Calanclad in a traditional white Kurdish gown and stylish turbanwalked onto the inaugural stage of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram to receive the first ever Spirit of Cinema award, there was a standing ovation. Not many among the audience had seen her films, but everyone could feel the fiery spirit that stood onstage clutching a walking stick in one hand and red roses in the other. As she stood there, all smiles, waiting for the applause to get over, nobody could guess that she was limbless waist down. She stood tall on her prosthetic legs.
I have travelled a long way to be here. My story is also long.... All I wanted was to make good films. But I lost both my legs in 2015 in an ISIS bomb attack. It took me years to stand up again. But now I am full of energy, she said after receiving the award from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. As someone representing a society that is fighting for its survival, my films are my acts of resistance. She dedicated the award to the victims of the 2015 massacre in the Turkish town of Suruç.

A couple in Ukraine shared a moving first dance on Monday, with the groom holding the bride in his arms weeks after she lost her legs in a landmine explosion.
Oksana Balandina and Viktor Vasyliv, both 23, celebrated their nuptials at a hospital in Lviv, according to Reuters marking a happy moment amidst what has otherwise been a challenging time.
The bride, who told Reuters that her 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter are with their grandparents in central Ukraine, hopes to travel to Germany soon. There, she hopes to get prosthetics and continue to heal.
Russia's attack on Ukraine, the first major land conflict in Europe in decades, began when their forces launched a large-scale invasion on Feb. 24. The invasion, ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has drawn condemnation around the world and increasingly severe economic sanctions against Russia.
