Do Dem leaders know there's a political war going on?

The Republican Party declared a political war on us decades ago. They trashed all the rules and, OPENLY, did whatever was necessary to own America and impose their fascist ideology on all of us. We saw it and did nothing.

TFG accelerated the process. And now, we're in a crazyland that we couldn't have imagined just a few short years ago.

So here are my questions:

O What are our leaders doing to defend us, and attack our domestic enemies?

O Are we just going to yell "GOTV" and hope for the best?

O Are we going to let the Republican propaganda machine triumph while we just knock on doors asking people to vote?

O Will any Democratic leader start acting like we're in an all out political war for our country?

O And if that "leader" comes along, exactly how is he/she going to engage in this "war for democracy" at this late stage?

O Do most people realize that our constitution, our freedoms, our country, our way of life are about to disappear forever?

8. More questions...
Tue May 10, 2022, 02:06 PM
May 2022

O What are our leaders doing to defend us, and attack our domestic enemies?

How would they "attack our domestic enemies"? What would that look like?

O Are we just going to yell "GOTV" and hope for the best?

What more should be done? Who should be doing this "more"? Again, what would the effort look like?

O Are we going to let the Republican propaganda machine triumph while we just knock on doors asking people to vote?

Can you define the "Republican propaganda machine"? What would Democratic Party leaders do to stop this now defined propaganda machine?

O Will any Democratic leader start acting like we're in an all out political war for our country?
O And if that "leader" comes along, exactly how is he/she going to engage in this "war for democracy" at this late stage?

These are kind of similar questions so I will respond to both. Who do you think that leader is and/or should be? We certainly have some people who are advocating for action. What would be the actions, words, etc.. of said Democratic leader? Do we call Republicans "the enemy"? Do we encourage extremism from our side? Violence? Again, and not to beat a dead horse but WHAT does it look like for "our leaders" to act like we are at war. Wars typically involve and imply violence.

O Do most people realize that our constitution, our freedoms, our country, our way of life are about to disappear forever?

This one, I will answer straight up. NO. At very least a good 60% to 70% of the voting age population in this country do not know the situation we are in. They know that there is economic pain, they know that there may be certain problems, but NO they do not understand that one political party has plans to make drastic changes to our society. They actually think that this is just how life is sometimes. They are mostly focusing on what is directly in front of them. How am I going to keep my job? How can I afford rent/mortgage? Are my kids safe? Is my neighborhood safe? Who is going to win the (sports, reality tv) situation? Any good movies coming out?

Politics has always been spoken about as "Something out there, that you do every few years". It is "Other". In the media, it is about the horse race. Who will win? Not what changes or policies a candidate has that will affect your daily life. What stupid ass shit did Trump, Greene, Boebert, Gohmert, etc.. say today?

We do need leaders, but we also have to engage directly in the situation. We cannot wait for someone to come and "save us".

And I really am not expecting anyone to come and "save us."

But that doesn't change the reality that, IMO, we are on the verge of losing our freedoms and becoming slaves owned by some of the worst/most insane fascist pricks this country has ever seen.

I sure wish I did have some "magical" answers, (short of an actual shooting war which is exactly what they want and we don't).

So how about you? Do you have any answers? Do you have some way to save us all? Do you have a cure for the ideological sickness that infects millions?

On this "verge" for 40 years. The time to sound the alarms and take action was when republicans made no secret of what their plans were. Oh wait, some did. And were told they were paranoid alarmists because (fill in the blank) would never happen in the US. Well, we were warned 40,35,30,25, 20, 15, 10 and especially 5 years ago. Too bad there was no one listening then. It's easier to prevent a fire than it is to put out one already in full blaze.

I am sure that they do know and I am sure that the suggestions that I have are very likely being discussed already or have been discussed at length.

As far as myself, I am getting active at the local level and continuously contacting my representatives at the State and National levels. I plan to phone bank and walk districts as needed to get people out to vote.

The only people who want a shooting war are people who are psychopaths and people who have never been around gun violence.

Something has to be done with right wing propaganda, from radio, to Fox News and the extremist clones. The problem with that is the First Amendment. Government can't really regulate or thwart right wing media. There would have to be some kind of grassroots, massive movement to financially cripple right wing media and put it out of business, which again, would be very difficult because it is funded by very wealthy individuals and families.

Reagan and Poppy Bush double the deficit, Clinton dials in the austerity to balance the budget.

Junior Bush loots the banks and crashes the economy, Obama dials up the austerity and bails out the banks.

Trump ignores COVID-19 and betrays the nation to pay back Putin and Deutsche Bank, Biden does his best to keep the country solvent, the world at peace, and COVID-19 at bay.

And always, the perpetrators get to keep the loot.

What do you think taxpayers are for?

Manu Raju, reporter:

Dick Durbin leery about gutting filibuster to pass abortion bill. “If you've been here any number of years, the tables can turn,” he told me. “Let's think long and hard, and we went after voting rights … I supported that and I think that there are possibilities in that regard.”

Asked Durbin if he backs an expansion of the Supreme Court to add more justices.

“No, I'm not going down that path,” Durbin said. “There are many possibilities here, but I have not endorsed any of them.”

So are facts. Our leaders are presenting the facts right now. It's up to us to vote, based on those facts.

In the end, it will be the vote that determines what happens next. Therefore, GOTV is a crucial part of the process.

And there it is, in a nutshell.

I suggest that you help with that if you want to protect our constitution, our country, our freedoms, and our way of life. If we fail with that, the consequences are obvious.
