As I do.

A dollar goes further than canned or other food does. About $6 further for every dollar.

I didn’t have much handy in the pantry so I got some canned goods while grocery shopping, I can’t say how many other neighbors took part.

I always do this. I volunteered at a food pantry and there were weeks when all we nearly had were condiment packs. The food was rationed into ridiculous portions to make it last. I still recall the feeling of having really nothing to offer people standing in line.
