(21,528 posts)and has a Federalist for a director, so how can we be sure that they would do a proper investigation now?
Also, in order to start a real investigation, doesn't this proposal need some more backing?
I will be happy to see it done, but I am not convinced yet that it will be.

(504 posts)Kinda skeptical myself. Toothpaste long been outta the tube, the slimeball is on the court and will continue to be.

(82,849 posts)My understanding of the original vetting done by the FBI was severely curtailed on orders from the White House. Christine Blasey Ford was the only witness adverse to Justice Boof's interests called to testify at the Senate. Any number of other witnesses were never interviewed by the FBI. There were also several anomalies noticed in his personal finances, including how he paid off his mortgage, was able to buy season tickets to the Washington Nationals, and suddenly appeared before the Committee debt-free without any indication of where he got the money to pay off all his creditors. None of these items were investigated very thoroughly, if at all. Sen. Whitehouse probably knows one or two more interesting facts about Justice Boof's past that should be aired.
It will be interesting to see what happens next. The FBI doesn't like its work to be reviewed or questioned, but there may be some folks in the Bureau who would like to see FBI's work given a second shot at investigating Justice Boof without the constraints of the Trump administration.

(7,284 posts)and excellent points regarding the FBI's investigation review inclinations.
probably not going to happen, but we might be surprised. hate to leap ahead of reality, but could such a review lead to other questionable financial conflicts involving other seated justices on the that same court?
Also, I'd really like to see an investigation or financial audit on both Heritage Foundations and Federalists Society.

(6,486 posts)a reason for Wray to still be in that job.
It would not surprise me at all if Wray obstruction is the reason for Merrick Garland's seemingly slow progress.
Finally, someone is trying to do something about that sham investigation. And I cant think of anyone better to do it than Senator Whitehouse (where has Schumer been all this time?) But the FBI director is still Christopher Wray, which is problematic at best. I hope Kavanaugh is sweating.

(4,616 posts)He already sits on the SC. What happens if there is another investigation and something rock solid is found? You think frat boy will be impeached? No, he'll STILL be a SC justice. This ship has long since sailed.

(10,029 posts)Maybe ten years. For those already past this number, perhaps grandfather them in for maybe two more years. Anyone joining the court the last three years falls under the limits. I realize this affects the rational judges on the SC as well, but we need to get people like Thomas and Alito off. Congress will not impeach any of them.

(58,674 posts)the best we could do, maybe, is set up a rotation of some kind where they are reassigned periodically.
But it would take an amendment to actually end their terms prematurely.

(4,616 posts)Creating a law that is a direct contradiction to the constitution will go down in flames before the ink is dry. It's amazing how many don't know that. Changing the SC requires a constitutional amendment. Not a law.

(35,693 posts)On a bus ride to kavanaughs neighborhood and see why hes still living in an averagevery averagehouse? Tv news showed protesters at his house. I couldnt believe a SC justice lived in such a nondescript domicile.
Also if he was living in such a low rent oops mortgage place, how did he ring up 200k in credit card debt? what the hell did he spend it on?
I know a high flyer who rings up a lot of debt on restaurant bills. Has to drive a new Mercedes. Only drinks the best scotch. Constantly shopping for new, expensive clothes. Flies wherever he wants when he wants. Well the worst he could do with credit cards was ring up a debt of around $82k and I know his salary was about 50k less than kavanaughs. So how did kavanaugh spend 200k?
Lots of things dont add up with kavanaugh.

Wray did not properly vet Kavanaugh.
