Finland's president tells Vladimir Putin he is to blame for Helsinki's bid for NATO membership

Finland's president, Sauli Niinisto, has told a news conference that Russia is at fault for Finland's decision to apply for NATO's membership. He said Finland took exception at being 'told' not to join the alliance by Russia.

Putin invades Ukraine ostensibly to stop NATO expansion. The invasion results in NATO expansion, the depletion of the Russian military, crippling of the Russian economy, and the devastation of the world opinion of the effectiveness of Russian military.
