Georgia man challenges eligibility of 13,600 voters
May 12, 2022
CUMMING, Ga. (AP) A Georgia man is challenging the eligibility of more than 13,000 registered voters in his county in the northern part of the state.
Frank Schneider filed the challenge on Tuesday with the Forsyth County Board of Voter Registration and Elections, which will consider it during their regularly scheduled Thursday evening meeting, news outlets reported.
Schneider said in an email to Mandi Smith, director of the countys voter registration and elections department, that he compared Forsyth Countys voter rolls with the U.S. Postal Services National Change of Address database and found that 13,609 have an address thats different than the one listed on their voter registration.
Georgia empowers any voter in a county or municipality to challenge the qualifications of anyone else on the voter rolls. A sweeping election law passed last year specified that there is no limit on the number of people whose qualifications a single voter can challenge.

(31,121 posts)We would of course assume this is a white person challenging POC, but is that what this is? Has he found that many democratic voters who are likely not white and challenging them or is he challenging the rich, white folks?

(82,849 posts)After all, it's been 553 days since the election in November 2020. Aren't the people of Georgia entitled to a final decision on the election count? Or is the challenge an open-ended thing, with no time limit? Can a Democrat challenge the voter eligibility of a sufficient number of voters in 2018 that Stacy Abrams could be declared the governor?

Georgia lets any citizen challenge any persons eligibility to vote, and that power has been abused in the past.
