There have been a few improvements in premature infant survival rates

Once upon a time (late 80s) one couple I knew had a 26-week child grow up to be normal. That was NOT expected.

Recently, https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-01517-z

"In the United Kingdom, for example, among babies who are alive at birth and receiving care, 35% born at 22 weeks survive, 38% at 23 weeks, and 60% at 24 weeks.

For babies who survive, the earlier they are born, the higher the risk of complications or ongoing disability (see ‘The effects of being early’). There is a long list of potential problems — including asthma, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and cognitive impairment — and about one-third of children born extremely prematurely have one condition on the list".

((So any other children are deprived, unless they get conditions too. I remember someone being SO jealous of the attention until having to go to Rack & Grill- er, R&G Orthopedics- too...))

a great kid, w a great sense of humor. but adding hard to control epilepsy to his autism is really hard on the kid. he's in 8th grade, and ready for some independence, but he cant be left alone.
he got lots of early intervention, and he's doing quite well, but..

he's his mom's miracle, tho. she went through 11 miscarriages to get him.
