So much for the people who claim it isn't doing anything. It has been all along, and will continue to do things to find and prosecute wrongdoers, at every level.

There were DoJ guidelines against indicting a sitting President. The same does not apply for a former President.

January 6 changed everything...we had a president that conspired to overthrow an election to stay in power by any means necessary...treason, sedition, insurrection, coup...all unprecedented...indicting an ex-president is also unprecedented...Garland said he would prosecute whomever is responsible for the January 6 insurrection whether they were present or committed other crimes "at any level"...let's take him at his word..for now

Otherwise, this may end up being an indictment for a fall guy or explained away as mistake or negligence.

We already know that the word from the Pig's camp will be to blame someone else.

I'm glad I got here ahead of the gloom and doom crowd with their "this means nothing," "nothing will ever be done about Trump," "the DOJ is useless, and oh, btw, the sky is falling" posts. Because this really sounds like a new wrinkle to me. A federal grand jury, wow!

It's just nice to come into a post like this ready to celebrate some good news and NOT find that the parade has already been rained all over for once!

I'm excited and encouraged by this, and anyone who thinks I shouldn't be can go find a different parade to rain on!

I stand by what I already said. This IS something new and different, and I believe it's a good sign!

"Federal prosecutors have begun a grand jury investigation into whether classified White House documents that ended up at former President Donald J. Trump’s Florida home were mishandled, according to two people briefed on the matter.

"The intensifying inquiry suggests that the Justice Department is examining the role of Mr. Trump and other officials in his White House in their handling of sensitive materials during the final stages of his administration. . . . . . .

"Charges are rarely brought in investigations into the handling of classified documents. But the Justice Department typically conducts them to determine whether any highly sensitive information may have been exposed so the intelligence community can take measures to protect sources and methods."

and, despite a mountain of evidence, [remember OJ first trial], fail to get all 12 jurors to vote to convict, [trump will by 'hook or crook', use tremendous resources [dark monies, etc.], to 'find' one juror [remember gangster gotti finding one], - the risk being a substantial risk to democracy/democracies.

The lesson of OJ trial 1, and 1500 year old chess, - is that it needs to be [just about?] impossible for, the [magat] king, to escape.

[Prosecutors know this, the public does not].

The chance that Trump physically moved the documents is zero. Whether he ordered certain documents be moved would be a very murky case at best.
