Anthem wrote in his denial letter that it denied the implant because it would not help lower blood pressure.

But Douglas does not have high blood pressure. His problem is a failing heart caused by the chemotherapy used to successfully battle leukemia.

Remember when Michael Moore went after health insurance companies?

Everyone is in this for the money.

That's the problem.

Eta - I bet this device costs 20 bucks to make. It's a simple pulse generator, running on a single chip. Their own press release says its a simple procedure:

The Barostim System is implanted in a simple and safe surgical procedure. The Carotid Sinus Lead is sutured to the carotid sinus after a simple mapping procedure.

The BarostimNEO generator is inserted in a standard device pocket. Procedures typically take less than an hour and are usually performed on an outpatient basis.

The system contains no hardware in the heart or vasculature.

OUTPATIENT PROCEDURE.

He allowed the healthcare insurance companies and hospitals to operate for profit. Reagan doubled down with more deregulation. This is a complete failure and we need to lay the blame at the repuke door.
So keep the healthcare example in mind as the right tries to privatize SS, Medicare and Medicaid. The right is also working to destroy our public education system by making it a for profit industry.
These are active issues that we need to stop. The right continues to double down on making the rich richer.

Less than 10 percent of the cost here in the US. What a surprise, said no one ever.

Which is why I use it. Images are important to communication.
It is a bug and has no feelings or cognitive thought process. The maggots are not offended. Maggots do not remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, or create. I agree they are a vital critter. A disgusting wrenched vital critter.
I think this is an important issue to think about. The right mocks us over our excessive political correctness. So where is the line?

Which I highly recommend reading, bytheway.

They're sociopathic institutions that profit off of injury, illness and death. And they don't give a whisp of a damn.

My Cardiologist prescribed Eliquis...insurance wouldn't fill it. Then he changed it to Xarelto, again, wouldn't fill it. It was obvious they were trying to push me to Coumadin with every two weeks blood test. Which would be a major pain and interrupt life quite a bit (maybe that's what they want). I asked the pharmacy, how much out of pocket...ouch.

So the Mexican border is a three hour drive...got a three months supply for $300, half of what a one month supply costs here. Next time I saw my cardiologist, showed him the box and explained what I did. He chuckled and said, "well you keep doing that and I'll also supply you with an additional month of samples".

And yet people will scream red that we have the best healthcare system in the world.

And the states & fed have no interest in regulating them. jmo, we need to cut insurance cos. out of healthcare altogether with single-payer healthcare. Please see sig line for more information.
