3. BA.2.12.1 variant is slowly replacing the parent BA.2

It hasn't been doing it as exponentially as how Omicron's earlier B.1.1.529 variant overtook Delta's BA.1.617.2 -

CDC has been reporting an overall ~9% positivity rate in the U.S.
