Heard this last night on Smerconish. I would think Dems would all push Lamb. No?

(6,103 posts)Lamb should stay where he is. Fetterman is what Democrats used to be when I was a kid. I wish him well.

(21,405 posts)Wife and I voted for him, daughter and son-in-law vote for him Tuesday.
There is a huge misconception that Democrats have to run moderates to win general elections.

(68,685 posts)Fetterman is fine by the way. As for Connor Lamb, I don't care for him that much but he is like all the others before him that lost. Fetterman has the potential to be a Democratic rock star.

(10,839 posts)It's just that kind of year when voters are looking for something different, someone to be excited about. Fetterman's that guy and has surged in the polls running anywhere from 20 to a phenomenal 40 pt spread in the polls.
As for Lamb? On paper, Conor Lamb is the perfect candidate-experienced, poised, professional with a military record to boot. In an ordinary year, Lamb would probably be the runaway favorite.
But this is not an ordinary year.
The Democratic electorate is looking for someone who will go their own way, not bow down to the powers that be while holding strong, Democratic values come hell or high water. Fetterman is an unflinching Union supporter (and looks the part), is a cheerleader for any plan that gets us closer to Universal healthcare, regards abortion as a sacred right, is a champion of voting rights, judicial equity, legalization of marijuana and a host of Democratic policies. A strong advocate for President Biden's Build Back Better agenda, John Fetterman is an unapologetic liberal who doesn't mind butting heads over issues of fracking as a transitional, temporary energy policy and hates the idea of fantasy-playing that we're going to solve the Climate Change dilemma in 5-10 years.
Perhaps just as important, he's plain-spoken, blunt and comes across as the working man's working man though he holds a post-graduate degree from Harvard.
In my mind, he is the candidate of this particular moment. I felt the same way about Joe Biden's run for POTUS in 2020 although the men are completely different in presentation. It's all about the intersection of talent, passion and the ability to move people in a positive direction.
I believe John Fetterman can secure this seat for the Dems, win the whole enchilada.
And for me? That's the only thing that matters.

(89 posts)Unfortunately, Fetterman suffered a minor stroke on Friday. Hes OK, and recovering in the hospital. He and his wife, Gisele, released a video statement, and he seems fine. He said the doctors were able to resolve the clot that caused the stroke. And he says he wants to get back on the campaign trail before Tuesday. But, that is scary. He has had my vote all along in this PA primary. I want him to go into the Senate and scare Mitch McConnell.

Btw, off topic but I just read Chris Van Hollen suffered a minor stroke. Bizarre!

(10,839 posts)That's what I've been reading.
And yes, I'm pleased.
Should also note that my husband and I voted for Fetterman by mail. We just got notice that our ballots were received and recorded.
Tuesday should be a very good day!
