The 264 who left today are supposed to be exchanged for Russian prisoners.
President Zelensky was intentionally vague in a speech tonight about what will happen to the brave soldiers who remain. The leader of the Azov today released another vague statement to the effect that his soldiers had fulfilled the mission of tying down the invaders and allowing Ukraine time to regroup and train reserves and that it was following an order.
We await developments and hope for a good result.

(12,484 posts)Russia will (I'm sure) process them for propaganda purposes, asking them about Hitler, the Holocaust, taking photos of any tattoos, etc... and then trade them for Russians.

(6,401 posts)...if they can leave peacefully. Russian forces are not going to storm the place when they can sit tight and starve them, they have them contained. Another site I go to had a report that in addition to removing English signs denoting the city, they are also advertising work for those who remain to start cleaning up the city and eventually rebuild.
The Ukrainian troops don't have hope of victory and they aren't going to get the "going down in a blaze of glory" treatment either. The daily attacks they get are just to test them and wear them down further. The battle is over.
