They will be blowing up railways and bridges and generally screwing up Russian supply lines for a very long time.

BTW, they crossed the river because they knew where to cross it. Russians kept trying to rebuild a highway bridge that wasn't there any more. That wasn't the right place to cross the river. That's what happens when your generals are promoted because of their loyalty to one man, not their expertise.

I'd have no problem if they drew a line from their NE corner over to Kazakhstan and took all that
territory cutting Russia off from the Black Sea. Call it the spoils of war, happens all the time.

That's the problem with wars over turf full of people who don't want to live as conquered people. Such territory is inherently unstable.

No, the best policy is to stay within one's borders after making sure an enemy country will need a couple of decades of rebuilding before they can even take a few potshots at you.

The best outcome from this war is forcing Russia to stop looking westward for its heart and soul and to look toward the east. They've always been divided on the west, deploring what they see as the decadence while desiring the wealth and sophistication. It's weird, it's unhealthy, and it's time to let it go. Perhaps this war that united the west against them will do the trick after hundreds of years.

Ukrainians are mad at Russia right now and mad people make mistakes.
Let's hope they don't screw up their future by wanting more territory.

Ukraine should - must - defend every inch of its territory. It should not follow the Russian lead and engage in a war of conquest.
