We are not safe anywhere and there are times I think about getting a gun. I don't think I could ever shoot anybody but damn shootings are out of control.

That is the first question a person considering buying a gun for protection should ask themselves.

(32,082 posts)But the good should not be the enemy of the perfect. Guns are useful for protection. A seat belt and air bag may not help much if you run your car into a brick wall at 80 mph. But they help in most cases.

(63,912 posts)until Sandy Hook. I still mourn every time another shooting happens. I feel that, given my age, I will die without seeing an end to such gun violence.
