The South lost the war militarily, but they were winning it culturally all the way until the last 15 years or so.

Black President, LGBTQ rights, increase in Hispanic political power...they are seeing biracial families on their TV, gay dads are hawking wares, a black woman is one heartbeat away from being President...

They see now they are losing it culturally and they see the end and it's the scariest effing thing they can imagine.

All I know is that the Q-anon/MAGA people are the same exact people that the Tea-Bag/Party were.

thru sacrifice and tears, make great strides. I marched against the Vietnam War as the mother of a 3 year old son and saw the women's rights movement come and stay (and change my life forever).

We pass on our values to a new generation and watch their struggles, but this is what you get, each time, when you refuse to accept hatred and the denial of people's rights.

Of course they are scared of losing. They are facing oblivion.

white supremacists.

This is money (Kochs, Mercers, Murdochs, etc.) wanting to deregulate their industry, funding think-tanks (CNP) who enter into mutually-beneficial relations with right-wing and evangelical groups, who spend lots of money on lobbyists who actually fund our politicians, and now our judiciary.

Used to be that vested interests went after a specific target (think NRA backing a single candidate), but they are using a much broader approach - going after whole federal (TeaParty) and state (ALEC) legislatures, mobilizing disruptions in local governments, and trying to take over the courts - especially the federal (Federalist Society).

This type of coordination is not grass-root. It is paid for and scripted. The poor fodder that have been brainwashed have no idea where there funding and true leadership comes from. They've taken the wafer and will never recant.

It's fall-out from the Nixon impeachment - they realized an independent press wouldn't catapult their propaganda, so they created their own system.

We live in that world now.

6. Years ago at a work conference, a speaker said, "culture trumps strategy" & it occurred to me that

at the time, that yeah, culture trumps policy.

The speaker was referring to how a good or bad culture at a company impacts how well or not the company strategy will work.

same is true with politics.

This is why the right has long engaged in the culture wars and its Southern Strategy.
