(3,406 posts)Same with Collin Powell, he knew he was doing something wrong, that is why he went into almost obscurity after his time in GW's administration. I just wish he had left documentation behind telling the truth of what went on, and apologizing to the country.

(3,873 posts)How many dead and wounded and displaced on his account?
He ignored Richard Clarke. And on W's incompetent Administration went to forge catastrophic blunder after catastrophic blunder....
There's been no accountability for any of it; the ineptitude in office, invasion, torture, death, destruction, economic disaster, etc.
So, now, W pretends it's all just a joke, and his crowd laughs with him.

I imagine Bush has a lot on his mind about the comparison of his invasion to putin's invasion, he knows he fucked up as will putin. As he gets older I think he will have a much harder time living with some of the terrible decisions he made. I'm not perfect & have made some bad decisions in the past but when you are president bad decisions cost lives, in his case, 100.s of thousands.

(5,444 posts)sounds so much like the USA, I don't see much of a difference.
But 75?
Most people of that age still know the difference between Iraq and Ukraine. And Afghanistan. And Vietnam.
The US picks some good presidents.
Sometimes though, the process goes wrong. The 'checks and balances' thing he mentions?
