This is why I miss living in Germany so much!

(CNN) — A whole month of unlimited transport for just $9.50 -- that's a great deal at any time, but in a time of fuel price hikes, rocketing car rental rates, and a worldwide cost of living crisis, it becomes unbeatable. So pack your bags, because the most affordable travel destination this summer, if we're going by transport, appears to be Germany.

The German government has today approved the creation of a €9 ($9.50) monthly public transport ticket. It will be launched in June -- just in time for a summer trip. The card can be used across the entire country, on local and regional transport -- trains, buses, and trams, according to local media.

It is SO sad how we cannot break the knuckles of those that insist on holding on to that steering wheel of their car - a problem FAR MORE complex than the 'freedumb' from masks debate.
Yes, not a simple issue to resolve, but there's simply NO place for the 'debate' to begin....

Nice benefit!

I lived in Germany for a year and a half and loved riding the trains, buses, and subways everywhere and not having to own a car. Traveled all over Europe on the trains and subways. Best time ever.

Wonder if this came about because they want to wean themselves off of Russian oil?
One more step toward Green Energy, everything helps.

If my wife's reading is correct. If you go to another region it will also be €9. This just cut €38 off my daughter's monthly transit pass and extended the range. A huge bargain for commuters and day tripping.

It is a real deal since I live in Munich.
downside for me is our trip to Saxony will take quite a while on the trains so we will rent a car for the long weekend
when we go.
Around town I almost always bike. But the 9Euro ticket will be cheaper than 4 round trips in town.
