Poll: 61% of Trump voters agree with idea behind 'great replacement' conspiracy theory

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that more than 6 in 10 Donald Trump voters (61%) agree that “a group of people in this country are trying to replace native-born Americans with immigrants and people of color who share their political views” — a core tenet of the false conspiracy theory known as the “great replacement.”

Less than a quarter of Trump voters (22%) disagree with that statement.

So-called replacement theory has been covered extensively in the days following the May 14 murder spree carried out by a white supremacist at a Buffalo, N.Y., grocery store. The suspect, an adherent of the conspiracy theory, shot and killed 10 Black shoppers in the attack.

The survey of 1,573 U.S. adults — which was conducted from May 19 to 22 — found that relatively few Americans (just 34% overall) believe in the underlying idea behind replacement theory, and more than twice as many Americans strongly disagree (33%) than strongly agree (14%) with it. (An Associated Press-NORC poll conducted before the shooting delivered a similar result after posing similar questions to U.S. adults.)

Conservatives want to turn back the clock in every way ("conserve" the past), and anti-immigration feelings have a long history in the USA-- think back to the anti-Irish immigration movements of the 1850s for an egregious example. For a long time the main targets were other white people, BUT bias against non-whites was even stronger (then and now), such as bias against people of African and Asian descent. In the 20th century, anti-immigration bias combined with traditional racism such that the targets are primarily people of color and the white people who ha once been targets are now included in the groups t be "protected" from immigrants.

Number of Americans that ID as gqp 29%. Number of voters 168 million
That equals not quite 49 million
Number of gqp that ID as dotard supporters approx 30% = 14.7 million or less than 10%

So dilute that down even further…61% of dotard voters…you can do the math from here. Anyway, it’s a very small amount

Sickening that this poll does not even address this issue!!

we would all be coffee colored because of intermixing of the races. This is just an updated version of the same idiotic idea. We are all the human race.
