(19,204 posts)but those must all have been California pump prices, because we've never come close to $5 a gallon before where I live (western NY). We've never been near $4 a gallon before this year. Its $4.89 where I live right now. Let's be honest about our anger anyway. False anger is the other side's tactic.
I guess the American people can put mass murder of our children on the back burner, but they'll never stand for high gas prices.
What a sad freaking commentary on life (if you can keep it) in the United States. This country has its priorities so messed up it makes me ashamed to be an American.

(19,204 posts)I just can't remember cracking the $4 barrier here. And then the Bush family, remember Bandar Bush?, got their pals, the Saudis, to open up the spigots again and it was over. It didn't last long.

(51,285 posts)To heat our house
diesel had gone to almost $4 a gallon
and we would need to fill our 500 gallon tank at least 3 times to get through the winter
The stove, installation and the first ton of pellets cost $2000
. One tank of diesel
It takes 3 tons of pellets (approximately $800) to heat our house each winter.
I have never regretted our decision.
All that to say
of course I remember those prices
they went on for a long time.
