They were conscripted to be pretty much backfill policing in Donbas under their "county's" laws and administration, but were quickly shipped to Mariupol - which is in LNR (Luhansk) to fight as "volunteer" forces alongside Chechnyans against the Ukrainian Marines without rifle training and without any sort of medical assessment as to the ability to be in combat. This was so Russia could keep it's casualty numbers down.

They have lost 40% of their unit in Mariupol, which means they were probably dragging their feet when ordered to fight.
They are appealing to the military administration in DNR to allow them to disband and go home, because it's been over two months, which was the initial scope of their conscription. However, the military admin in DNR has been parroting the Russian propaganda, so they may be forced to desert to the Ukrainians.

Mind you, most of the separatists in DNR consider themselves culturally Russian, not Ukrainian. A good number of them were immigrated from the Russian oblasts around the border back in 2014 to live in houses and take over businesses "left" by native Ukrainians who fled the "little green men" sent by Russia - or got sent to Siberia.

This is what I can gather from the thread.

Both the thread and the video are wild - I have never seen anything like this. Wow.
