Armed cops including the school resource officer repeatedly had him dead to rights and couldn't/wouldn't do shit. In the middle of rural Texas where EVERYBODY has guns.
You have your fully armed theocratic utopia and all you have to show for it is another 21 bodies in a school.

(11,770 posts)Rest of the doors are exit only. Doesn't prevent the shooters from entering main entrance, during morning student arrival, or afternoon student dismissal. Also, there aren't bullet proof windows. Arming teachers would put children in crossfire. Republicans have zero interest in solving children being massacred at schools. Our children are sitting ducks, because the money and influence of gun lobbyists.

Also Republicans: Let's give every teacher a gun!

No person should be allowed to buy a gun until their skull is fully formed. Same with military enlistment and buying booze.
I await gun folks to chime in about they had guns at 12 years old, and never committed mass murder. 🤠 Yee fn Haw.

(2,739 posts)To enter there visitors hold up their drivers license to a camera, the ID is checked, and then doors are unlocked by a school receptionist. There are a second set of doors behind the first. All other doors are kept locked. Teachers have a key, so they can open the door when coming in from the playground.
Visitors sign in and sign out.
Children are allowed to enter in the morning of course, but not adults not employed by the school.
Visitors would have a hard time getting in with a weapon.
Our district schools are part of the Safe Schools program from Texas State University.

(2,739 posts)database I think. Maybe a national crime database too.
I volunteered at one of the schools here and went through a background check, but still had to go through the identification process.
There's a scanner they can run the drivers licenses through and pull information quickly. But since i was pre-approved, I didn't experience that part.
