Two innocent trans women smeared online after the Uvalde school shooting
Following the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday – the deadliest school shooting in the U.S. in a decade – two trans women found their images being spread online with claims that they were the now-deceased shooter.
Mashable spoke to both of these individuals. Neither have any connection to the shooter or the shooting. There is no proof that the deceased shooter, who killed 21 people including 19 students inside Robb Elementary School, is transgender.
On the evening of May 24, confirmed photos of the Uvalde school shooter were being shared on Twitter alongside pictures of people who had similar long hair and features. Sabrina noticed one of those photos was of her. In the photo, Sabrina, a 22-year-old living in New York City is seen drinking out of a bottle. She posted the photo on Twitter just 4 days prior. Sabrina declined to share her last name for this story.
Sabrina quickly replied to a number of tweets in an attempt to debunk the disinformation.

As horrifying as this is, maybe they could have some "friends" 'splain to them they are just being too "thin skinned" and told to understand "this is nothing, it will pass."

Over the last few months, we've seen trans people and allies labeled as "Groomers". We had Chappelle try to drag the trans community into his "attack". Subhuman demon and terrorist Paul Gosar tried to claim the shooter yesterday was transgender. And now we have people trying to link two innocent trans women to the shooter.
All of these actions are done with one purpose in mind: To get trans people killed. This has been the purpose of all of this, this is their goal. Either provoke someone into shooting us, or push us to take our own lives - just so long as we hurry up and die.
This isn't "nothing", this isn't going to pass anytime soon unless someone puts an end to the open hatred and hostility. And, no, living in fear of becoming another victim of a hate crime is not being "thin-skinned". I've lived with that fear for a long time, and over the last 3-4 months, it's gotten far, far worse.
I wake up everyday anymore fearing that I'll check the news to see that someone gunned down a transgender support center or Drag Queen Story Time (the comments section for my local paper already has people calling them "Groomers" and threatening "stay away from our kids!"
or something like that. That day is coming, sadly. We'll be greeted to another mass shooting, another terrorist event, inspired by "good Christians" like Carlson, Drump, DeSantis, Abbott, Empty Greene, etc...
But... Decorum. And ponies. And chromosomes.
