I couldn't stand John Howard
Classic conservative. But after Port Arthur in 1996 he had agreement and consent from nearly all parties to enact strict firearm laws. He moved quickly and decisively.
I'm sorry to say that IMO the US media is milking this tragedy for all it's worth. I had to turn it off. It will take immense political will to do anything about guns and I fear you are too fragmented a community to achieve this.
