It's to let them go home to face their constituents who are pretty fucking pissed right now. I hope that they have no peace wherever they go.

I'm pissed that they're taking a 2-week vacation after two mass murders but they BETTER not be going home to hide. I want them to face the wrath of everyone who is outraged that nothing is being done to stop the carnage.

I would have said Congress is allowing the recess. That's all. It is two opinions not a challenge.

Because if so, we are useless.

The blame for not getting something done crosses the aisle.

It's been 10 years since Sandy Hook. We've done fuck all. That's not acceptable. Certainly the great minds we have should have been able to come up with, I don't know, something more than nothing.

Again, if we couldn't get anything done in 10 years, then we're useless. That gives nobody a reason to vote for Dems.

In fact, I said: "The blame for not getting something done crosses the aisle."

It is on ALL of them.

The "pukes" are doing what the base wants. If we are going to convince people to vote Dem, then saying "Well, we couldn't do anything in a FUCKING decade, so, keep voting us" ain't going to cut it.

But this is 100% on Congress as a whole. Both sides. They all suck on this issue. It's been a decade since 20 kids were gunned down at an elementary school and nothing has changed. Oh, well, not nothing--I get to do active shooter drills at my school.

we aren't giving them a reason to continue to do it.

And they just won't vote because they feel both sides suck. This issue solidifies that attitude.

Did Dems get rid of the filibuster when they had the Senate? What exactly did they do to stop gun violence?

Shrugging our shoulders and pointing at the Rs ain't going to win votes and remove culpability.

Not everything is about money and selling and advertising; Republicans are a post-policy radicalized nutty non-party. Anybody who can't see that is a lost cause.

There's no urgency (to me) in rushing to vote for something that's going to die in the Senate. We've been through this several times now. A week or two weeks is not going to really matter much.

Schumer could have, imo, held a vote which takes only one day, and then they could have all gone home to their districts for the rest of their vacation to face (or not) their consituents.
