Illinois law on booze. What do you think?

No one may sell or serve alcohol to any person under the age of 21. No one may purchase or provide alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. Violation of the above provisions is a Class A misdemeanor and the sentence shall include, but shall not be limited to a fine of not less than $500.

People complain about our state-controlled liquor stores but it’s proven we have less drunk driving than many states. And those stores are VERY strict about not selling to minors.

Would go across the border into Wisconsin, where 18-year olds could buy booze.

As a result, there were a lot of drunken car accidents at the border.

The Tavern League threw a fit when the age in Wisconsin was raised to 21.

A friend of mine lives in Bleckly county, Georgia, a "dry" county.

Just over the county line is a liquor store.

That we are happy to have a young man fight and possibly die for his country at the age of 18, but not to enjoy a cold beer when he comes home.

we were 18 and 19. I had to get the beer for hubby when he came home to Chicago on leave from Ft Leonard Wood! Women were legal back then at 18, men 21.

Reagan made all the states change the age to 21 or they would have lost federal highway funds. Here in Mississippi, the age was 18 for beer, 21 for liquor. In Louisiana, the age was 18 for everything. I was in college when the laws were changed, so I was legal and then I was a minor. Aggravating as hell!
