"She said she saw a father tackled and thrown to the ground by police and a third pepper-sprayed. Once freed from her cuffs, Ms. Gomez made her distance from the crowd, jumped the school fence, and ran inside to grab her two children. She sprinted out of the school with them."

A mom of two children at Uvalde was put in handcuffs after urging police and law enforcement to enter the school.
Once freed from her cuffs, she jumped the school fence, ran inside and sprinted out with her kids.

JFC! She drove 40 miles after hearing about the shooting and arrived at the school with her kids still inside. The police handcuffed her and after she was freed from them, she jumped a fence, entered the school and rescued her two kids herself.
Every police officer at the scene needs to be fired. This is shameful beyond words.

OP
As if the murders were not horrific enough... Now these parents will be haunted by "what if"

Indeed. The parents of the children and the survivors in the school are the heroes here.

and having no outlet for anger-exacerbated intense grief. I am going to have to take a break from all this because my disgust/anger is about to come close to exceeding that of those affected...

(20 posts)5. I completely empathize with
The parents and cant possibly condemn their actions, but at the same time an unknown number of unarmed, untrained, understandably overwrought people rushing into the building would have done nothing but make the situation worse.

(5,915 posts)8. Nobody said let the parents run in.
The cops didn't do their job and the parents were frantic at their inaction.

No one is going to help us.

(5,915 posts)7. 1 hour with zero police intervention cost children their lives.
The fact that the cops can't get their story straight says they f'd up big time.

(3,003 posts)9. They cared more about assaulting parents trying to rescue their kids than stopping a mass shooter.
Cops truly do get off on violence.

Winners.
