1. Putin is trying to break the back of Ukraine, to utterly demoralize them into surrender.

Much like the GOP is slaughtering our children and telling us nothing can be done to stop it.

3. Putin will terrorize the Ukrainians as much as possible.

Leaving a trail of horrific destruction, death, mutilation.
The use of these weapons is for that purpose.

On the ground Russian soldiers commit brutal crimes for the same purpose.

Putin is losing the war and losing face. He is desperate and furious.

and yet UA's are persistent. Ukrainians have been protecting their sovereignty for years, and Russia is obsessed.

Movement in Donbas has been stalled and Putin just replaced the general with another brutal one. Time is not on Putin's side.
