Larry Gatlin, citing 'outdated and ill-thought-out positions,' will not perform at NRA Convention

Country singer Larry Gatlin has opted not to perform at this weekend's NRA Convention in Houston.

His announcement comes on the heels of Don McLean's decision to also pull out of Saturday's Grand Ole Night Of Freedom Concert at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

In a statement, Gatlin, who is known for his conservative views, said that he cannot "in good conscience" perform and that he is in support of background checks. He also suggested arming teachers could have prevented the tragedy in Uvalde.

"I pray that the NRA will rethink some of its outdated and ill-thought-out positions regarding firearms in AMERICA," he said.

in other words.......... they are still the exact same shit organization getting kids slaughtered today that they were a week ago, so why the hell did you ever agree to perform for them in the first place?

Too little, too late, for me.

Fucking hell no, if anything it would create more casualties. It's bad enough with bullets flying in one direction. Sit this one out.

I'm not the least bit impressed by this move. Watch how many come out trying to look like they care about the readily available weapons of mass destruction in this country.

These types think slapping a flag pin on their lapel makes them patriotic. Fuck the Gatlin brothers and their crappy music.

is the only thing that arming teachers would accomplish. It would not have stopped a single one of these massacres.
