Texas Department of Public Safety Lieutenant Chris Olivarez just told Wolf Blitzer on CNN there were wounded students alive in the classroom with the gunman during the hour it took for the Border Patrol tactical unit to take down the Uvalde shooter at Robb Elementary School

It's well established in trauma care that from the point of injury to the point of definitive treatment the best outcomes occur when patients are treated within the golden hour. Would some of these deaths have been preventable? It's hard to guess, but I can't help but wonder

Department is useless. Supposedly they get 40% of the town's budget. How much worse would their response have been if they "only" ate up 30%?

The Parkland officer was arrested for failure to act because he didn’t, by himself, confront a gunman. What do you think will happen to those Texas officers.

Not until the Coral Springs cops, a neighboring force, did any officers do anything. Then, the Broward County Sheriff planned the SRO. He successfully cleared his name. He was scapegoated.
