TX Police Lt. Says Cops Were Reluctant to Engage Gunman Because 'They Could've Been Shot'

https://www.mediaite.com/tv/texas-police-lieutenant-says-cops-were-reluctant-to-engage-gunman-because-they-couldve-been-shot/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

A Texas Department of Public Safety official said responding officers were cautious as they entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas because “they could’ve been shot.”

Nineteen children and two teachers were murdered after authorities say an 18-year-old male entered with a rifle 12 minutes after he crashed a car near campus.

The New York Times reported the shooter was inside the school for about an hour before officers finally breached the classroom he was in and shot and killed him.

Reporters demanded answers during a contentious press conference Thursday afternoon. State law enforcement officials addressed the public a day after some parents with children in the school said they were prevented from going in by officers.

One girl inside the room reportedly bled for an hour after she was shot. She died at a hospital. It is unknown if that hour might have saved her life.

NEW: Texas law enforcement officials at a press conference say they believe that all the children that were shot and killed in Uvalde, TX were shot by Salvador Ramos and not anyone else [i.e. law enforcement].

Texas appears to be super corrupt (not trying to be mean, my state is quickly catching up to them).

City of Castle Rock v Gonzales 545 US 748 (2005).

As near as I can tell, their job is to dress up like GI Joe, and meet their ticket and arrest quotas, while being paid six figures in most departments.

So that idea's out the window.

As for arming teachers .... They won't be experts, they won't stop the initial carnage. An hour later maybe one of them could have done something.

As for security officers at schools at all times ... How long can even the best of LE sit alert, trigger ready? What type of vigilance can you buy for the salaries school districts can afford to pay?

This is just unthinkable: SEVEN police officers were inside the school but did not confront the shooter per @CNN. They waited "about an hour" for a Border Patrol tactical team to arrive. A full hour. Seven armed officers to one 18 year-old. The good guys with the guns?

But wait there's more.
7 inside and, are you sitting down?
150 outside. ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY.

Police, when dealing with unarmed people (particularly of color): John Wayne.
Police, when dealing with armed people: John Wayne Bobbitt.

But, hey, better defenseless kids than armed, tough cops in body armor... Right?
