We've all now read that there are those suggesting Zelensky give territory to Putin to end the Russia's current aggression in Ukraine. The Donbas has about 4 million residents and the Crimea another 2.5. Much of both areas has be reduced to rubble. Maybe a better deal would be for Macron and Italy's Draghi to pick several cities in their countries and still and good shape, to trade off to Russia. They could do this without the bother of losing one soldier or civilian or school or hospital and I'm sure Putin would be overjoyed and surely will be dissuaded from ever using his threats of Nuclear weapons and bad boys from the east to gain any more real estate.
Kissinger, of course, has nothing to give up so nothing will shut him up. His reputation is already in the dumpster and nothing will clean up his record during the few years he has left. His ideas in the 60's and 70's cost thousands of lives and many lost far more than real estate. I guess he thinks other people's real estate is of no consequence.

Should I sue for peace, let bygones be bygones, and let him claim my garage?

And yes I agree 100%, Putin would be so overjoyed he would turn over a new leaf and the milk of human kindness would flow through his veins for ever more. Give up all his nukes and never covet anyone else's land ever again.

(17,305 posts)with Putin making claim that Alaska is still rightfully Russia's territory. He then says he's willing to withdraw as long as the U.S. cedes all of the Aleutian Islands to Russia.
The American government is going to say what? "Sure, Vlad, whatever you want, so long as we avoid war."
Yeah, right!

(4,832 posts)Giving Zelensky what he needs to keep it contained within Ukraine. The world could learn a lot from the the Ukranians now about how to stand up to an imperialist dictator. It may take a while but clear resolve vs. confusion is what is needed.

(11,100 posts)to tell the people of Ukraine that they must conceded anything to the Russians.
Ukraine was invaded in violation of every norm and international law. The Russian invasion has been nothing but a succession of the most blatant war crimes, civilians have been targeted and murdered in the tens of thousands, local political leaders have been disappeared, civilian infrastructure has been reduced to rubble. . . .
The Ukrainians are putting up a resistance that no one could have foreseen and destroyed a third of the Russian military.
What, if any, concessions are to be made to the Russians must be completely left to the Ukrainians. The Ukrainians alone have skin in the game. No one else has any right to tell Ukraine what to do.
