One regularly votes with the GOP on key issues of vital importance.
The other regularly votes with the GOP on key issues of vital importance.
Guess which is which!

The established issue for the 2022 election, particularly among independents, is the economy/inflation/gas and grocery prices/etc.

For the most part Republicans have nothing to lose maintaining their established position. I think it will most likely affect some specific contests, like TX Governor, but maybe not the way many think it would. Beto has made it his primary focus the last few days and he’s passionate about it but it’s unpredictable politically. He had been working for months to back away from previous comments about gun control and now that effort is erased. In the end, the issue could still easily be a net negative for him politically.

But take it as an acknowledgement that the Second Amendment is not absolute, and rethinking can be pursued. To climb the steepest mountain you start with the first step.
