https://twitter.com/...Evan Axelbank, a journalist at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida, has gotten his hands on a leaked internal GOP memo. Apparently it was deliberately leaked by a "worried GOPer" to motivate the GOP base by showing them that a loss was possible, but it still definitely suggests
concern- as does that motivation!
The memo cites a Democratic lead in early voting "60-22 in PBC, similar to 08. If you add returned Absentee ballots to EV by party, Dems like by 30k in PBC". It also describes the Democratic turnout machine as "cleaning our clock", and warns about the effect on down-ticket races.
I'll post the direct link to the memo as soon as it's up but until then, I wanted to get this up there since I didn't see anyone else discussing it.
A GREAT sign - and along with the last few days of polls, Cook earlier today and Romney's travel schedule tomorrow, shows that Florida is really very gettable for us... and if we win it, everything else is just for show.

And I know it will be unpopular to say, but when Obama's first debate didn't come out the way we expected it to, it really energized his base. I know I donated more $$ because the thought of a Romney presidency was unacceptable.

(2,787 posts)rather than math. It may be true that no republican has ever won the Presidency without Ohio, but it's still possible. However if Romney loses Florida it is pretty much impossible for Romney to win. If Obama wins Florida he could lose Ohio, and still net an additional 11 electoral votes.

(2,397 posts)People are pissed that Rick Scott cut off early voting. So what are the black churches doing? Taking thousands of people by buss, vans, etc. to polling stations when they open at 7AM!!! And it will be on-going till Saturday? Sunday? I forgot which day. Maybe someone in FL. could update us. For all of you what you are doing there in FL. to get people to the polls, YOU ROCK!!!!! Thank you.

(34,086 posts)I suspect the "leak" was deliberate, in order to encourage our overconfidence (and that the memo itself may be a fake designed, again, to encourage us to get complacent).

(1,182 posts)I live in Flagler county, and proudly filled in the ovals for Barack Obama and Bill Nelson. Turnout for early voting seemed to be pretty heavy, I had to wait in line for about 30 minutes.

(10,336 posts)Besides, don't believe it necessarily. Could be disinformation. With the race supposedly close in Florida, maybe that's just one more tactic to try to dampen the vote by giving people an excuse to feel okay if they happen to not get to vote. I would just crank up the GOTV machine, every single day from now to the end. It's not over until it's over.

(980 posts)I live in a very red part of Florida. The polling places are packed with Republicans in my area. We can win Florida but it is going to take every vote we can get.

(276 posts)Is a huge voter turnout across the state run by churches. The GOP legislature and Governor tried to shut down early vote and and after a public outcry managed to reduce it to 8 days and took away the Sunday before the election when all the black churches had bused their congregations to the polls to vote en mass. When the GOP made their move it was immediately recognized for what it was and the churches began to organize and this last Sunday became the big souls to the polls day in Florida. Our little town square was quite the scene with charter buses discharging large numbers of congregants on Sunday afternoon dressed in matching lime green tee shirts. Combine this with Gators for Obama shuttling college students from UF and a punk rock festival and free barbeque and it was quite the scene.

(903 posts)we don't register as a particular party, and the only time you have to give a party 'affiliation' to vote is in the primaries. but you can ask for any parties ballot- and you're not obligated to vote for the party you chose at the previous primary.
so- there's no way to know which party is "in the lead", and it can't be used to try to motivate people to the polls because their side is losing

(23,156 posts)that it isn't even going to be close. Not in the popular vote, not in the Electoral College. Doesn't mean we just sit back at this point, but Obama is going to wind handily.
I wish I could confidently say in a landslide, but nonetheless, our President will be re-elected easily.
