Who knows first hand (or through a friend) the conditions in Point Pleasant NJ?

My cousin lives about ten miles inland and isn't answering her phone. She's about 70 years old and insisted on riding it out. I assumed she was safe where she is, and maybe the power is out, but I'm a bit worried. If she has no power I think she'd leave.

Does anyone on DU know if she'd be flooded or without electricity?

My sisters land line isn't working either and she has one of those old wall phones that doesn't need electric. She's without power anyways..... She's much further north than Point Pleasant. My guess tho is if she is 10 miles inland she is probably ok. Does anyone in your family live close by enough to check on her?

He's probably just as bad off, but I talk to my cousin Anne to keep up on him.

She's pretty stubborn, but I hope she left if she's without power.

Lots of damage, but safe and sound reported through friends, in connection with a friend who stayed there. (She managed to get word out a couple of hours ago, after being silent since yesterday PM.)

She borrowed a cell from her sister in law, but it just goes to VM. No reply yet, and I just tried again. I'm pretty sure she's safe because she lives so far inland, but I don't know where she ended up.

Thanks for the concern.
