The poll, which provides perhaps the starkest illustration yet of the political peril Cheney faces this year, shows Wyoming attorney Harriet Hageman garnering 56 percent of the vote to Cheneys 26 percent in the GOP primary. A third Republican got 12 percent support, and just 6 percent are undecided.
Hageman was recruited and endorsed by former President Donald Trump in response to Cheneys vote to impeach him last year alongside nine other House Republicans.
The race for Wyomings lone congressional district is one where the Club for Growth and Trump, who have quickly turned from allies to foils, are aligned, though the Club has not formally endorsed Hageman. The poll, shared first with POLITICO, was conducted this week by WPA Intelligence, a Republican firm, ahead of Fridays candidate filing deadline.

IMHO the only Repug that could put TFG in his place is Christy.
If TFG runs, I hope Christie challenges him, I would love to see those two debate.

(54,426 posts)This has got to be a first, proposing campaign advice for a Republican who opposes just about everything we stand for.
But though she has the wrong ones, Cheney does have SOME principles, and that's better than most of today's Republicans, who despise the concept. Since there is just about no chance a Democrat could win the lone Wyoming House seat, better her than the nut case alternative. If she is forced to run as an independent, especially since the DNC seems to have abandoned Howard's 50 state strategy, our not running a candidate in that race this time seems to be the only chance to keep the seat from going to Greenebert III.
