3. There is no money in stopping it.

On the other hand, lots of people and companies make money from guns.

Civilian safety versus industry profits. Just no competition. The money wins every time.

2. I'd like to find out if there is a correlation

between early childhood experience with guns and mass shootings.

How many mass shootings were carried out by white males with a history of gun exposure/handling in earlier years?

How many come from households were guns are not part of their upbringing?

9. It's toxic masculinity

All of these male shooters kill in response to their inability to handle life and an entitlement to take lives in response to their inadequacies. Lots of bullied kids never murder a classroom full of children. Lots of men who can't get dates don't drive to a college campus and start shooting young women.

But the ones who do these things show an entitlement to take lives in response to their shortcomings. A mindset where since they feel wronged, they are entitled to kill in response.

And no, it's not a mental health issue. Plenty of other armed countries do not have young men shooting up classrooms full of children. It's a sociological issue.

Remember shortly after Sandy Hook someone posted the ad for the gun he used? Something about "taking your masculinity back"? Gun companies speak directly to young, aggrieved, entitled males. They MARKET TO MURDERERS. They are telling them that hey, if you feel inadequate, this gun will make you feel like a man.

8. How can it be prevented?

I didn't see it in the post.

The blame was given to white male patriarchy while mental health causes were dismissed.

What is the prevention? Lock them all up?

10. People who don't vote refuse to prevent it. People who throw their votes away

refuse to prevent it. Electorally, ONLY those who consistently vote Democratic try to prevent it.

How about a gentle disagreement and reminder of what it enables next time someone badmouths voting and offers the usual hypocritical excuses for their own culpability, like "They're all crooked and care only about money," and "Nothing every changes"? Things changed big after 2016 when 100M didn't vote. They were on course to change big for good when derailed.

Just imagine where we'd be if voting was generally considered as much what respectable people did as washing the car -- and excuses for declining to do either were equally likely to get surprised looks and no murmurs of agreement.
