What happens if he can't run? Do we just forfeit the the race? Does Oz automatically win? Does Lamb come into play? Have we been here before? How does it work? Anyone know? I don't know how it works.

It said he's at home resting, but there are questions about the need for a pacemaker as they are not used to treat A-Fib. The article questions whether he has another heart condition that requires the pacemaker.
I'm sorry, I don't know how to link the article. On positive note, they said his clot was removed very early, the key to full neurological function continuing.

DEFINITELY used for atrial fib with a poor ventricular response. Life saving.

Wrong.

A pacemaker IS used for A-Fib.

Fetterman got a combination pacemaker/defibrillator.

That Inquirer (ICYMI they were in for Lamb) used some doctor (who never examined Fetterman btw) who ignored the pacemaker part and focused on the defibrillator part.

The RW is already busy-beeing this story all over MAGAt land, just like they did with Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Biden in 2020.

You say it was a simple procedure yet we haven’t heard from him. He said he was gonna be back this week and now it’s been 17 days.

We need him to win in PA. We need him here now. The American people and the people of Pennsylvania need to know where he is and we don’t know.

I was just correcting the other poster's error, I said nothing as to the medical procedure's complexity or lack thereof.

I am neither Fetterman's doctor nor his keeper.

Perhaps send an email to his campaign and ask.

I send emails to reporters at times when I see something they say and have a follow up, and usually they reply. (Jonathan Allen is great at that, very nice bloke) I would think Fetterman's staff might reply to your enquiry.

But not everyone needs one. My father needed it due to bradycardia and a close friend has one too after having a stroke which is when they discovered he had irregular rhythms which caused the stroke due to embolism.

You can live a long time with pacemakers. My father lived for many years and had 3 surgeries to put new ones in when needed. He had old heart leads though so he still could not have an mri.

Privately, Democrats said that although they do not know how long Fetterman will be sidelined, they feel they are not yet at any disadvantage because the GOP primary has been left unresolved.

Fetterman, 52, who won the Democratic nomination from his hospital bed last week by an overwhelming 60 percentage points, was released from the hospital Sunday, according to his campaign, nine days after he checked in May 13.

In Washington, Democrats have taken the official position that everything will be okay with John Fetterman’s health over the long haul.

Pennsylvania law gives party nominees until Aug. 15 to withdraw from a general election. In addition, should Fetterman’s health decline and he need to be replaced on the ballot, the executive committee of the state’s Democratic Party would meet to pick the backup nominee within 30 days of Fetterman’s withdrawal, according to party bylaws.

But T.J. Rooney, former chairman of the Pennsylvania Democrats and a supporter of Fetterman, said “of all the things I’m worried about, that is the least.”'

Lieutenant governor stuff. But the election is unresolved on the GOP side. I have heard that he will be fine and is not bowing out. Fetterman can win this seat. I don't think anyone else can.

your body still has to heal. You don't want to risk pulling out the leads implanted on/in your heart muscle. That's why the docs don't want you doing any strenuous upper body movements.

Why not? It's not as if the GOP has a nominee yet and he can recharge for the battle to come.

He's tweeting and according to DUers on FB is commenting there. His campaign is in high-gear raising money for a Tuesday deadline. As of 2 days ago, he was $100,000+ from the goal (and yes, I've donated twice since the primary and signed on for a small monthly donation).

A friend of mine had a pacemaker installed 6 months ago and was told to take it easy for the first couple of weeks. If this was going to happen, the timing couldn't be better for John Fetterman. He had a medical event. It was addressed and he's been provided with the gift of time to recuperate and rest.

How is he?

Grateful.

I wonder if he had an ablation, and that's the reason for the pacemaker. Sometimes, A fib keeps the ventricles going at a moderate rate, but when you remove that hyperactive focus in the atria, the ventricles contract at a dangerously slow rate -- which means you need a pacemaker to keep its rate going.
