(16,110 posts)Hope the guy loses his job, since he seems to enjoy making death threats.
Someone should also look at his other posts, as this is unlikely to be a one-time thing.

(1,351 posts)Seems odd that someone would post threatening messages to a sitting member of congress with their photo as their account icon. Id have to assume the picture, and even identity, was stolen.

(1,351 posts)There is a picture and a name, and the picture and name are the same across platforms (Instagram, Twitter, etc). But how do we know its his picture and his name? So the same person is making similar threats but my point is how do we know the picture and name arent borrowed? Only way to know for sure is IP address or MAC address.
I saw a lot of the same concerns posted in response to Rep Eric Sawlwells original tweet when poeple were identifying the face and name used. But maybe since then someone has been able to definitely confirm the photo and name used are the actual person making the threatsI havent kept up.

(16,426 posts)I honestly think it could go either way. Some people ARE that stupid.
His posts certainly sound stupid to me. There's not an original thought in there anywhere: all he does is regurgitate the stuff he hears on Fux News and various RWNJ websites. *GAG*

(1,527 posts)It is way too easy to take someone's profile pic and partial name and make a fake profile that really has nothing to do with the actual person. Millions of bots would probably agree.
So this guy may be a Right Wing idiot, or he may be a victim of identity theft, and will now himself be a target for abuse.

(5,586 posts)is an easy way to ruin someone's life. Not a bad reason for twitter and other social media platforms to require verification.
IMO, Eric Salwell was wrong to put this on blast. He certainly has people on his staff that know how to reverse lookup a picture like that.

Yeah, right

(1,351 posts)Some were posting on Twitter that they had seen posts from this guy a year ago that were far more articulate and not even close in nature to these more recent ones.
Others making a big deal out of the fact that the guy removed all his social media accounts. Well so would I if I were innocent yet people were blasting my LinkedIn profile all over the planet as having threatened a Congressman.
I truly hope this is the actual guy because, if not, Twitter and others have made an innocent mans life hell. Its no joke.

(5,586 posts)Now it could actually be that guy, but there's a very high chance that it is not him either.
It's a variation of a first name and a profile pic from LinkedIn, which would take someone not that guy less than 4 seconds to set up. IMO, this is a great reason to restrict unverified social media accounts from sending DM's. Bots do this kind of thing millions of times a day.
Swalwell certainly has people on staff that can reverse lookup pictures on Google, so he should know very well everything that we know if he just asked his staff.

(114 posts)Should be a simple matter to get the server logs on this post and determine if he actually sent it. And investigate the devices and networks he claims prove his innocence, if he makes that claim.
Plenty of paid trolls with literally millions of stolen accounts out there doing just this type of bs.

(8,756 posts)All you sidewalk chalk artists. Draw police outlines of dead children on public sidewalks outside their comfortable mansions, we help fund, some of which we totally pay for like Govs mansions. Maybe show up at Government offices with pictures of mutilated children's faces and bodies, as anti choice asshole so callously did. Post a few outside MTGs congress office.
