Texas Gov. Abbott gave 2 different speeches about gun control at the same time with 2 different mess

Business Insider via Yahoo News

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday gave two different speeches about gun control that went on at the same time – with two vastly different messages.

One was in Uvalde, speaking to the community impacted by gun violence in the wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting; the other was a pre-recorded message to the NRA convention in Houston.

"With regard to a special (legislative) session, let me just say this: all options are on the table," Abbott said, speaking to Uvalde community members about addressing gun violence and calling the status quo "unacceptable."

"Do we expect laws to come out of this devastating crime? The answer is absolutely yes. And there will be laws in multiple different subject areas," Abbott added during the Uvalde press conference. "There will be committees formed, there will be meetings held, there will be proposals that will be derived, many of which will lead to laws that will be passed in the state of Texas."

In contrast, Abbott's pre-recorded speech to the NRA's annual meeting aired at the same time, about 400 miles away in Houston, and diminished the impact of gun control legislation.

"There are thousands of laws on the books across the country that limit the owning and using of firearms, laws that have not stopped madmen from carrying out evil acts on innocent people in peaceful communities," Abbott said in the recorded message.

"In Uvalde, the gunman committed a felony under Texas law before he even pulled the trigger," Abbott added. "It's a felony to possess a firearm on school premises. But that did not stop him."

is the obvious answer! So….let’s remove all felonies from the crime books and save a ton of money!

Can anyone explain how anyone with two brain cells to rub together can swallow that nuclear grade bovine excrement?

It was a fat fine every time I purposely drove 11-15 mph over the posted limits, too.
Even fines, traffic school, and higher insurance rates don't stop me.

It's the guns. It's the ammunition in the guns.
Ban the military weaponry among civilians.
Let real soldiers store their military weapons on base in the armory.

Arrest the gangs of violent domestic terrorists cosplaying Rambo. All of them.

The 'wrong' NRA audience needs to hear the "laws will come" argument.
Those in the 'right' needing thoughts and prayers need to hear how heartless Abbott is.

You and your Pro-Death Party did this. You lowered the age in which to sell weapons of mass destruction into the hands of children that just turn 18.

Quit blaming others.

While I'm at it, You went to a fundraiser right after the massacre just a few hours after 21 people were declared dead. While the Uvalde community were counting the dead, you were counting your money.

Did you talk about guns and how we need even more guns?

there will be laws (made by whom?) in multiple different subject areas," Abbott added during the Uvalde press conference. "There will be committees formed (by whom, to do what?), there will be meetings held (by whom? about what?), there will be proposals that will be derived (might be the most passive evasion and awkward expression of "not me" ever), many of which will lead to laws that will be passed in the state of Texas."
(again, by whom, about what, affecting whom?)

Vs

Texas legislators will meet in committee during special session to vote on their proposal to stop killing children so easily. Texas expects Gov. Abbott will sign the ban into law.

He'll do nothing. He's already lost to Beto.
