There IS Virtue in Bearing Arms, but Only In Certain Circumstances

There is virtue in bearing arms as part of your nation's military. Doing so in defense of your nation, you risk your own life to defend a principle. But, if your nation is attacking another nation to gain territory or destroy a society, the virtue disappears, and you become only the pawn of a tyrant.

There is virtue in bearing arms to protect the unarmed from danger. Law enforcement can be a virtuous calling. However, if you bear arms in that guise to oppress classes of people, that virtue no longer exists. In so doing, you become a tyrant.

There is virtue in bearing arms to protect your family and yourself. However, that is only true if there is a genuine, exigent threat to your or your family's life that must be countered. It is a fine line you must walk before using lethal force against anyone. If you shoot some youngster or adult who knocks on your door unexpectedly, but who means you no harm, that is murder.

There is no virtue in bearing arms to intimidate, frighten, bully, or attempt to silence others. If you do those things while bearing arms, you are nothing but a scoundrel and should have your arms taken from you. Bullies should never be armed.

There is no virtue in bearing arms as a political statement. The only statement you make by doing that is that you wish to be a tyrant.

There is no virtue in accumulating an arsenal of arms. None. You can use only one firearm at a time. If you have 20, there is something wrong with your thinking. You cannot utilize your arsenal in any defensive way. Choose your weapon. You need only one or two. If you have an arsenal, your surplus should be taken from you, because your motives are wrong.

in East Texas, and disgustingly, we sold ammo. Dipshits would come in bragging about how much ammo they had at their houses. One yahoo in particular told me he had over 20,000 rounds of ammo.

I wanted to ask, "What the fuck is wrong with you?".

Shit like that was part of the catalyst for moving away from there.
