Missouri elections clerk vows to remove people in court guardianships from voter rolls

In a rural Missouri county, residents who have been appointed a court guardian, such as people with disabilities, may soon lose the ability to vote.

Pamela Grow, the Republican clerk of Phelps County in central Missouri, told the Phelps County Commission last week she would remove the voter registrations of all people considered by a court to be incapacitated — even if a court has expressly said a person has the ability to vote.

“I would submit, ‘How is a person who is unable to manage their own financial affairs to be allowed to vote on someone else’s taxes?’ That’s just kind of putting it a little bit bluntly,” Grow told the commission, according to a report in the Phelps County Focus.

“I don’t mean to be hard hearted, but you have to think about the people who are working hard, paying their taxes and voting. Where are their rights? Elections can be won or lost with one vote.”

Because of, say, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, functional autism, or because they have relatives that take advantage of that person because of a developmental issue that leaves them over-trusting shouldn't be allowed to vote.
They don't need to be represented?
What next, people in debt? People who lose a job or ability to keep their level of income through no fault of their own and go into bankruptcy?
Who gave her the right to judge, especially if the court indicated they were competent to vote.

How soon will she go into bankruptcy if she can't work and her spouse dumps her with kids? Should she still be able to vote after that?
Stupid, selfish bint. On edit, I'll bet real money she calls herself a "Christian" too.

It's not up to her to decide who has the right to vote. Fuck her.

Many incapacitated people are still mentally competent. My brother-in-law's hands shake so bad he can't sign his name, but he is still mentally sharp.
Well, as sharp as a Republican can be, but I still stand for his right to vote.

Why isn't it written this way?

In rural Phelps County, Missouri, Pamela Grow is attempting to illegally disenfranchise voters who have been appointed a court guardian, including some disabled citizens. Grow could soon lose her job as clerk of Phelps County for attempting to take the right to vote away from law abiding taxpayers, partly because she personally disapproves of their employment status.

That should be the story. And yes, Pamela Grow, you are being judgmental, hard hearted, and you are acting way too big for your britches.
