"If its a symbol of your Heritage, which I assume has nothing to do with racism, did you voice your concern when KKK members carried that flag in their rallies?"

Incomprehensible the total ignorance and utter stu-
pidity of these pieces of excrement. Lower than snail
snit. That fool probably doesnt know what the stars

(36,829 posts)Today's official republican position - Lincoln was our nation's greatest leader
From the 2004 GOP Platform - (I have not seen them change it.)
"One hundred and fifty years ago, Americans who had gathered to
protest the expansion of slavery gave birth to a political Party that
would save the Union - the Republican Party.
In 1860, Abraham Lincoln of Illinois carried the Republican banner
in the Presidential election and was elected the Party's first
President. He became our nation's greatest leader
and one of our
Party's greatest heroes. "
Many of today's republicans, especially Southern Heritage types, do not like the truth.

I wish the interviewer would have asked him why he was afraid to answer the question, rather than just repeating it.

Compare the presidential election map of 1860 with 2004 and thereafter, and there you are...

(1,301 posts)I merely dismissed these folks as being dumb, stupid, ignorant and left it at that. No malice on their part, just steeped in some worthless tradition. They were probably good parents, worked hard to put food on their family, and in the main were not worth spending time on. Live and let live, and as long as I didn't have to associate with them then no harm done.
Not any more. These are rancid, disgusting, and ultimately dangerous reich-wing white trash hillbillies who present an existential danger to our democracy. They have to be dealt with.
