(CNN)CNN has obtained 2,319 text messages that former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows handed over to the January 6 committee that were sent and received between Election Day 2020 and President Joe Biden's inauguration, including more than 150 on January 6.
Meadows' texts, which he selectively provided to the panel, show that even those closest to former President Donald Trump believed he had the power to stop the violence in real time.
Here's a minute-by-minute timeline of the notable text messages that Meadows sent and received on January 5 and January 6, which have been verified by CNN. The texts include messages from former White House officials, Meadows associates and Republican members of Congress, as well as Trump's oldest son. There are also numerous texts from reporters at news organizations such as The New York Times, Politico, Bloomberg, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox News and CNN.
Note: CNN has removed personal information from the texts. Errors in spelling and grammar reflect the messages as they were sent, which in some cases include profanity.

"Vernon Jones, who dropped out of Georgias governors race on Monday at Donald Trumps behest, confirmed Tuesday that hes entering the crowded Republican primary in the states 10th Congressional District.
....
Jones was a Democratic state representative on the outs with his party when he shot to prominence as an African American who endorsed Trumps reelection campaign. The 61-year-old served multiple terms in the Georgia House, sandwiching a troubled turn in charge of Atlantas suburban DeKalb County, before proclaiming himself a Republican in January 2021 as his last term expired.
He built his campaign for governor around Trumps falsehoods that Georgias election was stolen. He promised another audit of the 2020 presidential election and to replace Georgias electronic voting system, often calling the election the dead cat on the end of the line.
The seat is open because U.S. Rep. Jody Hice is stepping down to run for Georgia secretary of state with Trumps backing. The fundraising leader has been Mike Collins, the son of former U.S. Rep. Mac Collins. He took immediate aim at Jones, noting allegations that Jones had raped a woman in 2004. Jones hotly denied that, and charges were later dropped."...(more)

I'm not convinced these are trump supporters either btw so we should be looking into that.
LOL. they hate that Biden went on TV first to condemn the violence.

(82,849 posts)She's the representative for the district in southwest Washington across the river from Portland. It's an interesting mixture of urban, suburban and rural, almost all of whom hate the big city but love to come here to shop without paying sales tax. Isn't it interesting (well, it is to me) that her major concern during the insurrection is that she hates that President-elect Biden had gotten on TV before her hero did. I also note that she says "We need to hear" from the soon-to-be former guy, but not what we need to hear: Knock it off? Go get 'em?
I'm sure that Rep. Herrera Beutler has already fashioned her reasonable and centrist story for this tweet.

(21,498 posts)there were two levels of info, two inner circles.
One circle, with mostly legislators, knew of the plan to have Pence nullify the electors and throw the election to the House. They thought that the Trump rally was just to put pressure and the public eye on Pence and legislators to go along with a political, but non violent coup.
The other circle, with people like Jones, the Proud Boys, and other militias, had a plan for violence with the intent of calling for martial law and military backup to declare the election invalid and keep Trump in power. The violent faction, headed by Trump and a select inner circle, did not communicate their violent intentions to the other circle. Besides seizing power by force, the violent faction was supposed to steal the certified electoral votes and substitute them with fake electoral votes.
Trump orchestrated both, but especially the violent actions. This caught some by surprise as evidenced in the messages.

(14,176 posts)After most of the violence calmed down a bit, he says to Meadows "I stand with POTUS.. what can I do?"
Really? At this point they already knew at least one person was dead, that the Capitol windows were smashed....and the best you can do is "I stand with POTUS"?

(7,901 posts)The MSM still calls this "Alleged" insurrection a riot, not an organized assault. IMO they watch entirely too much of their own Hollywood versions of reality and would not recognize an assault unless the organizers used that term in the press release.
