(not that on a chart like this one makes that anything to be proud of--just ask all the people that work there how it feels to not be able to afford to live where you work!)

(4,575 posts)and has experienced a huge influx of people. Another surprising real estate market is Montana. It's shocking what starter homes are going for there.

(54,408 posts)IN DC, you don't need many mansions on Foxhall Road to hide the cost of much of Northeast, since DC is so tiny--just like the vast expanse of Atoonas and Latrobes can outweigh the Main Line outside of Philly.

(19,993 posts)I lived in CA a couple different times in the 70s and 80s and loved it there. Cost of living looked like it would just keep getting worse so I moved out.
