The most well-armed and protected police force in the world.

Yet, it is not enough.

Nineteen policemen in Texas could not protect the lives of nineteen school children. The "good guys" with guns can no longer stop the bad guys with guns. Why?

Because the bad guys with guns have become more numerous and more dangerous with their high-tech, military weaponry they find on the street. The policemen have become more fearful for their lives. Their former authority means little.

Now, we are all in the same boat. The bad guys are winning. Policemen are just like us common citizens. They fear the direction we are going.

Because, the patients have taken over the asylum.

Yet, many law enforcement support Trump. Many former and current police were involved in Jan. 6 violence. Our Fulton Co., NY, sheriff, who is Republican and very political, had a fit when Cuomo passed the NY Safe Act and he very publicly said he would refuse to honor the law. Months ago, I researched stats for police shot on the job. I wasn't surprised to find that in states with more guns, more police officers are shot and either injured or killed while on the job. So, they should be the first to push for fewer guns on the streets. The Repub/FOX talking point is that Dems are "soft on crime". Meanwhile the R's are handing out guns like PEZ dispensers. None of it makes sense.

How do they explain what happened?

Do any of them see their job becoming more and more dangerous?

But you are right. None of it makes sense.

the next election and SCOTUS possibly allowing open carry across the country I fear for my granddaughter’s future. Crazy talk? I honestly don’t think so. Ten years ago the prospect of a total moron like the SlobFather being elected POTUS would have been considered ludicrous. He alone has made the unthinkable quite possible IMO.

allowing every crazy the right to carry a gun for “self protection”. Roe going down is devastating but the Bruen decision is going to put SCOTUS on the hot seat, although the gun nuts will say more guns will cut down on mass shootings. What a load of shit. Maybe this is what is needed to finally push for SCOTUS reform. I live in NJ, own guns, have no desire to carry a gun, and it’s currently almost impossible to obtain a carry permit in NJ. I think there are about 2,500 carry permits a year given by the State for people with a very specific and real need. Going to make a deposit once a night is T considered sufficient need alone. I have clients who want me to appeal a carry permit denial and in over 30 years I haven’t taken a case because it’s almost impossible to reverse a denial and I tell my clients it’s a waste of their money and my time. I don’t want to live in a state that allows nearly everyone to carry a gun. I went to law school in Texas in the 1980’s and back then hand guns were very common in personal vehicles.

that's what is so frustrating. He wanted his family to buy it for him and they wouldn't. But as soon as he turned 18, he was able to buy these weapons and tons of ammo, shoot his own grandmother in the face, steal her truck, and then shoot a lot of innocent little kids.

And even on DU there were some DUers defending the police because the rest of us are "armchair warriors" or civilians who don't know anything or whatever.

and let God figure it out. Even in the old west, you could source the good guys vs the bad guys. Now with places not requiring a permit, might just as well give them to everyone

I once believed that LEOs were around to actually "protect and serve" the people they lived near, and shopped with, and policed.

The most well-armed and protected police force in the world is constitutionally mandated to PROTECT THE "STATE" (city, county, state and federal govts) and KEEP THE PEACE.

If they happen to help a private person with some issue, or not, then that is a moral choice they make.

As decided, written and proclaimed for all to read, the Supreme Court of the US wrote this:

"the "state" has no legal duty to protect an individual life against private violence".

Google it and go read it yourself or ask a lawyer.

LEO's do not have a legal duty to protect your life and personal property. YOU have the responsibility to protect your life and personal property to the best of your abilities. This is one of the reasons for the right's so vehemently protecting their constitutional right to bear arms. Another reason the right uses this is the programmed, indoctrinated, propagandized fear of ANY government entity "coming for their guns" - which would remove an ability or tool to protect themselves from private violence since the "state" doesn't have a legal duty to do it.

Once you understand this Supreme Court decision, then everything else should begin to fall in place.

The topic included three children being murdered.
I can’t picture such a comment being made in the 50s.. if three children were murdered, all of the comments would be about their sad loss.

This dangerous individual is off the street and no officers were injured."

Not to mention the fact that this “dangerous individual” supposedly escaped from a prison bus.

I don’t trust anything the police say in that part of Texas.

And I’ve seen one too many movies.
