Who wants to tell E. Musk that he's part of the problem?

Elon Musk wants to cut Tesla 10% of jobs and has a 'super bad feeling' about the economy, Reuters reports

Elon Musk has told Tesla executives to pause all hiring worldwide because he has a "super bad feeling" about the economy and needs to cut 10% of its workforce, Reuters reported.

According to Tesla's annual SEC filing, the company employed nearly 100,000 people at the end of last year, meaning thousands of jobs could be axed.

Musk's comments come two days after he sent a memo to all Tesla employees to return to the office or resign.

*************************************

Cutting jobs only hurts the economy.

He's not worried about the economy. He's using a short-sighted approach to protect his own bottom-line.

He works very hard to control the narrative regarding his capabilities, and keeps up a sustained effort to maintain public attention--much like an orange-tinted former POTUS I will not name.

Anyway I don't think he "built the company" exactly, although it's in no small part due to his attention-whoring that it is where it is in the grand scheme of our society's image of itself.

Here's someone trying to explain it from a business law point of view (from 2018, so a bit dated but seems still relevant I think?):

Both were born on third base, but act like they hit a home run. Nothing but a couple of silver-spooners who slap their names on other peoples' work, and then take the credit for it. Tesla was created by others. It was up and running long before Musk became the controlling stockholder, and took it over. It's the same with his attempt to buy Twitter. If that deal actually goes through, it will be just a matter of time before people start believing Twitter was his idea, much like many think Tesla was his idea.

Dumb putz should have floated more Tesla shares while the price was high. Didn't learn from Yahoo's mistakes of 2002? What kind of stupid CEO is Musk?

Because there was a time when Yahoo shares were like $110 and rumors were they would buyout eBay for about $25 billion. All they had to do was issue more shares. Missed opportunities never arise again.

is there an award for "Absolutely Least Self-Aware Person on the Planet" or something like that? I can see he's already angling for this year's "Biggest Douche in the Entire Galaxy" award, and while he's got a lot of competition there he is certainly a contender.

That memo just further exposed him as the greedy, authoritarian shitbag that he is, and I'm betting at least 10% of his staff quit, or threatened to quit over it. Now, he's stirring up recession talk, in order to cover up the blowback. The recession that he has "a super-bad feeling about" is really the one his own company is spiraling into, thanks to his own mistakes and arrogance.

Because he's an asshole, and with the jobs market the way it is now, people have lots of other employment options. Nobody is forced to have to work for an asshole, if they don't wish to do so.

so many people think he's a genius because he portrays himself as one and strives constantly to maintain public attention.

people in general are, how can I put this?...not very bright. And intentionally discouraged from using their minds to think critically about pretty much anything.

If you own any, sell it.

Dude is making massively impactful business decisions based on a feeling and probably some right wing echo chamber.

Tesla can't meet their deliveries as it is, cutting 10,000 workers would be a disaster for them.

Enough already, don't we have more important issues to tackle, like getting rid of gun fueled republican campaigns? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

E. Musk seems to be unaware of little else nor does he often acknowledge luck as the primary factor of his existence. He is, after all, lucky his most productive employees haven't already quit his shenanigans carnival. He can no more predict the vagaries of the economy than he can foretell the hour of his own mortality. He can, however, influence the markets of the world with his words. I don't think he's some mad evil genius. He's more like a bull in the International China shop.

It will be just another defunct car maker unless it's bought for salvage by GM, Stellantis, one of the Chinese car makers, etc.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_automobile_manufacturers_of_the_United_States

There are many auto makers starting their own electric car lines that probably wouldn't touch Tesla. I can't see Ford or Volkswagen buying it.

Tesla is a popular brand in China. Both cars and batteries are being manufactured there.

Nah, I wouldn't bet my own money on any of this.

Overall, we need to build a world economy that has fewer cars if we want to save what little is left of the natural environment.

It’s simple—Tesla is heading for bankruptcy, he thinks making it smaller will allow it to die slower.

Are we sure he isn’t wearing makeup to hide his orange face?
